Windy Hill Sheds is happy to build your ideas and dreams into reality.  It is our goal to provide our customers with a customized barn, not a cookie cutter version. Take a look at details on our larger barns for customization ideas. Try to assess your needs for storage of gear, feed and hay.  Does your tack room also need to be an office? Do you have room for a tack room, hay storage or a feed room?

One popular hay storage solution is a center aisle loft or full loft.  It’s possible to have a hay bin as shown in the photo.  It's wise to plan for a loft before you build, as a loft affects the pitch of the roof. Another option for hay storage is an extra stall that can be used for that purpose. Or consider an overhang that is partially enclosed with a good floor to protect your hay from rodents and other pests.  Adding an overhang will add cost but adds functionality to your barn. It provides protection from wind, rain, sleet and snow in winter or shade in summer.  If Dutch doors open to the exterior, it protects your horses from the elements year round. Take into account the size of your horses regarding ceiling height and width of stalls and center aisle.  Stall fronts have several styles available. The photos show the yoke style and one with a sliding window on top.  Swinging stall dividers can be used to have two stalls as one large space.

Plan the natural lighting in your barn. Consider a cupola for style, light and additional ventilation. Clear poly skylights with the same profile as your metal roof can add light. Styles of windows and doors can enhance your barn and provide different light options. We’ve only touched on a few options available. Other standard ones include stone dust and rubber mats, an insulated and lined tack, Dutch doors with windows and guards, pavers in center aisle, or wherever your imagination can take you within the budget for your custom horse barn.
